Hotel update, although not there fault, we were woken up at 1am by some city workers who were doing some sort of sewer pumping and cleaning... they were there for over an hour and then, decided to hang out outside. Needless to say, the window opened and they were asked to leave. They were pleasant, but, it made for a tiered morning.
Anywho, that didn't stop us from having a fantastic day. We started out at Breakfast at Tiffany's for breakfast and then we were off on the motorway. Two hours later we arrived and I don't think dad quite knew what we were about to do.
Dover is a beautiful place with some amazing sites to see. Probably one of the coolest things we saw straight away was the massive ferry boat system they have. It is the biggest ferry operation I have ever seen and to watch these massive ships cart tractor trailers, cars and more is quite the site to see.
Although that was quite impressive, the real magic was at The White Cliffs of Dover National Trust site. Dad and I went for a little hike along the Cliffs, seeing some of the most breathtaking views. From the fields of wheat, the ocean, the lighthouse, the grazing ponies and yes, the Cliffs, we couldn't get enough! Words can't describe how beautiful it was. We chose to take the path along the Cliffs edge, which proved a bit tricky with the wind that was really whipping and pushing us about, but it was well worth the views. We even caught site of the Dover Castle on the hill across from the cliff paths.
As the afternoon drew nearer we decided to head back to Brighton where I had one last surprise for Dad-o. We made our way to the car park, where we had a bit of difficulty getting out of :-/ But, once outside we made our way to the seaside and... The Brighton Pier! Again, very windy, but what an experience. Food, rides and arcades, it's a cool seaside attraction. We even saw some brace souls swimming and surfing in the chilly water below.
Tired after a long day, we stopped in The Lanes and grabbed some dinner, pizza at a nice little restaurant. We got back to the car, made a quick stop at the gas station and are now back at the hotel relaxing before bed.
Off to Cornwall tomorrow to see/meet the Cornishkin.
